Return Your Books: The PothLoop Easy-Credit Guide

Turn your read books into credit for your next adventure. Fast, fair, and fully transparent.

At PothLoop, we believe in keeping stories moving. Our unique “Fair-Credit” system ensures you get rewarded for being a responsible reader. Whether you bought your book “Almost New” or in “Readable” condition, you qualify for maximum credit as long as you return it in that same condition.

Step 1: The WhatsApp Pre-Check

Before you ship anything, we perform a quick digital inspection to save you time and shipping costs. Send us a message on 0716857762 with:

  • Book Serial Sticker: A clear, close-up photo of the PothLoop sticker.

  • The “Full View”: Clear photos of the Front Cover, Back Cover, and Spine.

  • The “Flip-Through”: A brief 5–10 second video slowly flipping through the internal pages to show there is no significant highlighting, water damage, or torn pages.

PothLoop Pro-Tip: Please make sure the lighting is good when you are taking the photos. otherwise pre check may fail unnecessarily. Once our team reviews your media and gives the “Green Light,” you are authorized to send the book for final physical inspection!

Step 2: The Credit Matrix

Your credit is calculated based on two factors: How long you kept the book and its Condition Change.

The PothLoop Condition Standards

How we grade the assets in our library.

1. Almost New (The Collector’s Grade)

This book looks like it was just pulled from a high-end bookstore shelf. It shows zero signs of “wear and tear.”

  • Spine: Perfectly flat and unbroken. Zero vertical creases.

  • Cover: Sharp corners, no scratches, and original gloss/matte finish intact.

  • Pages: Crisp, white, and tight. No “dog-ears” (folded corners).

  • Markings: Strictly zero highlighting, pencil marks, or ink.

  • Feel: The book “cracks” slightly when opened for the first time.

2. Good (The Reader’s Grade)

The book has been read once or twice by a careful professional. It is clean but shows it has been handled.

  • Spine: May have 1–2 light vertical creases, but the book still stands straight (no “reading lean”).

  • Cover: Minor shelf wear or slightly softened corners.

  • Pages: Clean. May have very light “tanning” (yellowing) on the edges due to age.

  • Markings: No ink or highlighting. A small, neat name written on the first blank page is acceptable.

  • Feel: The binding is supple but still firm.

3. Readable (The Study Grade)

The book has been a “workhorse.” It is 100% complete and solid, but its aesthetic value has decreased.

  • Spine: Multiple creases. The spine may be slightly bowed or slanted.

  • Cover: Noticeable scuffs, small chips in the laminate, or “shelf-lean.”

  • Pages: May have “dog-ears” or significant yellowing.

  • Markings: Light pencil underlining or minimal highlighting is allowed (must not obscure text).

  • Feel: The book stays open on its own; the binding is very loose but not broken.

❌ REJECTED (Non-Returnable)

We cannot accept these books into the PothLoop ecosystem. They will not qualify for any store credit.

  • Structural Damage: Pages are falling out, the cover is detached, or the spine is split.

  • Liquid Damage: Any signs of water stains, “wavy” pages, or mold.

  • Excessive Vandalism: Heavy ink, aggressive highlighting on every page, or “blacking out” of text.

  • Odors: Strong smell of cigarette smoke, dampness, or mothballs.

  • Missing Parts: Missing dust jackets (if originally included) or torn-out pages.
